The story of his life

Colin was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1954, he is shown above at Gosforth County Primary School, he later left there for Altrincham in 1966, and in 1977 moved to Leigh, Lancs. when he first married; and then to Aberdeen where he spent ten happy years before moving to Moreton-in-Marsh where he now lives with his second wife, Jeanette.

The Student

He is a 1970's university drop-out (BEd Manchester) later gaining MSc, a keen young pot-holer, pre-chalk rock climber who could manage E2(5c) on a good day, Scottish winter mountaineer and British motorcycle enthusiast (until an Italian one damaged his back) he was also a fire officer for 22 years until the back injury caught up with him.

His Fire service career started in the Greater Manchester Fire service as it was formed, and after serving at London Road, Stretford and Leigh a move to Grampian Fire Brigade in the north of Scotland in 1982 set the scene for a fire safety career following an accident in 1987. In 1991 he moved, on secondment, to the Fire Service College where he still works; albeit now as an employee of the College rather than as a serving officer his current role is Higher Education Manager.
